When you get the Disney Dining Plan, your plan comes with meals and snacks, that can be used at any time throughout your trip. We no get longer the the dining plan, because we've found that we save more money without it, since our oldest child is considered a Disney Adult and often we just had too much food. That might not be the case for you though.
One of the things about the DDP is that with 2 snack credits a day per person, and Disney's fantastic oversized snacks, or mini meals that are eligible for a snack credit, the last day of our trip would arrive, and we would have twenty of more snack credits to use. Have you ever run into that situation?
Before you just sign and throw up your hands, think on this. Every snack credit you don't use, is free money you just gave Disney. Didn't you work hard for that? While when it becomes the 11th hour you might not get as much bang for your buck in the snack credit area, you CAN use them all up, even as you are checking out. Here are some of our favorite ways:
Road trip or airport snacks
There are loads of great prepackaged items for sale, it's not just candy. Pretzels, fresh fruit, bottled drinks, chips and granola bars are all mixed in among the Disney treats in your Resort's gift shop or food area.
Gifts back home
The pet walker, the kid across the street collecting your mail, a teacher or coworker, how delighted would they be with a Mickey shaped cookie, or bag of candy labeled Goofy's Candy Shop?
Stash treats for when you need Disney Magic
One of our favorite things, pre allergy, was to buy extra brownies, trail mix and cookies, freeze them and pull out during Disney Live streams! They tasted just as fresh, but we had such a good time, sharing a Disney snack, and watching others enjoy the Magic Kingdom.
Another thing I did, was pick up packs of the chocolate coins for stockings at Christmas, or give a little stash of a favorite treat for a birthday. It always was something looked forward to. We might not have the DDP plan anymore, but I still do this.
Gift them to other guests
You might be overstuffed, both in your suitcases and your tummies with no room to spare. So why not gift them to a family just checking in? Or one you see sitting around sharing a snack? you'll make their day for sure, and isn't spreading Pixie Dust the best feeling ever?
No matter what you decide to do, there are multiple ways to keep that cash you spend on your credits. How do you use your leftover credits? Or so you spend them all?
